Experience the power of public education.
The Sylvan Hills Middle School Robotic Teams involves students engineering VEX robots to defeat other teams in challenges. For the fall and winter, selected students in grades 6th through 8th grade commit time to research, work in a cooperative team, and compete in the VEX regional and state robotics competitions.
As a part of the robotics team, students have the opportunity to hone their skills in designing, programming, and testing a fully functioning robot. Students in this program gain skills in engineering, logical reasoning, and most importantly teaming up with classmates to solve problems. This meaningful activity does require a commitment of time and consistent effort.
Our team will have the opportunity to compete in the Regional competition at University of Monticello and State competition at Arkansas Technical University. At the tournament students compete against between 40-60 other teams from across the state of Arkansas in research, design, and programming. Teams interact with professional engineers, university professors, and community members.
Students must display a desire to compete, a commitment to the team and a willingness to put in the hours required to get everything completed on time. Students must also pass all classes, display positive behaviors in class and in meetings.
