In honor of Black History Month, MAUMELLE HIGH had a door decoration contest. The directions were to decorate based off an individual, group, or a college with African American Heritage. Here are our 1st place (Mrs. Tucker) and 2nd place doors (Ms. Almond). Congratulations! The staff took pride in educating, while being creative.

June Carter-Perry served as the US ambassador to Lesotho and Sierra Leone. She spent 25+ years with the State Department, working in Zambia, Zimbabwe, France & more. She was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2016. #blackhistorymonth #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Willie Roaf is a Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman. He played for New Orleans Saints and KC Chiefs before retiring and was selected to the Pro Bowl 11 times. He was inducted into Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2013. #blackhistorymonth #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Raye Jean Montague, RPE was an engineer and US Navy's 1st female program manager of ships. She's credited with the 1st computer-generated rough draft of a US naval ship. She was inducted into Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2013. #blackhistorymonth #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

PCSSD received nearly 36,500 masks for staff last week. These masks were donated by Ford Motor Company as part of the district's participation with Ford Next Generation Learning (Ford NGL).
